Experience the thrill of spring turkey hunting in the Maine woods with Libby’s Lodge & Canty’s. The season runs from May 4 through June 6, 2026, when wild turkeys will be on the move — you choose the type of hunt and the day(s) that work best for your hunt when you book online below.
Long before the season opens, Team LLC spends countless hours scouting and identifying the areas where mature Toms consistently travel and respond during the spring. That preparation is what sets the stage for a successful hunt. You are allowed to use archery equipment or a shotgun to hunt for wild turkeys in Maine.
During the spring season, only male turkeys may be harvested. This is mating season in the Maine woods — when Toms and Jakes are actively searching for hens. We call this courting, and it’s one of the most exciting times of year to be in turkey country.

Guided Turkey Hunts are ideal for hunters who want local knowledge, strategy, and a fully immersive spring turkey experience.
On our guided hunts, we’ll take you into proven areas well before sunrise. You’ll be set up with camouflage and decoys as the woods come alive with first light. As the sun rises, calling techniques are used to draw in a mature Tom — convincing him it might just be date night.
DIY Turkey Hunts are designed for experienced hunters who prefer to hunt independently and include meals and lodging.
DIY hunters bring all their own equipment and will use the OnX Hunt app, where you’ll have access to pinned locations, mark waypoints and navigate the woods across approved hunting areas. This allows you to hunt on your own schedule while still benefiting from local scouting and land access. Find it here:

ACCOMMODATIONS FOR HUNTERS
LL&C offers spacious accommodations for the members of your hunting party in our main lodge and cabins, plus we have access to remote off-grid cabins in specialized hunting zones. Plan to arrive at the lodge early (4:00am) for check-in. You'll enjoy home-cooked meals throughout your stay if the type of hunt you book includes meals. We like to welcome our hunters the night of their arrival with a Maine surf and turf dinner (lobster when it's available, steak or chicken and blueberry pie) while you get acquainted with your fellow hunters. Be sure to check out our Hall of Fame trophy wall in the lodge dining room. We make our boats and canoes available during non-hunting hours if you'd like to do some fishing.
